Nothing is what is seems in this funhouse. Beauty, horror, ritual, transformation and identity are blended and distilled based on the viewer’s own experiences, emotions and beliefs.
Inspired by literary stories of fantasy and horror, these multilayered photos are composed in-camera using repurposed images, words and mixed media.
The FUNHOUSE is open. Come on in and look at yourself in the magic mirrors. What is it that you see?
FUNHOUSE is part of the show A Vessel and Its Cargo, a collaborative project by Constanza Pacher, Paul Saturley and Curtis Trent. Their endeavour was funded by the Centre for the Arts and Communications Special Research Fund at Grant MacEwan College.
A VESSEL AND ITS CARGO is a visual exploration of body and mind. The world before the camera is corporeal but the mind references it as metaphysical. The show examines the complex relationship of what is seen and what is perceived — the world as it is, interpreted by the photographer, and then reinvented in the eyes of those who see it.
